Why Charter Here

French Polynesia is the South Pacific dream made tangible. A yacht charter through the Society Islands puts guests inside those impossibly blue lagoons, with volcanic peaks rising above and coral gardens visible through the hull. The experience is as close to paradise as yacht chartering gets.

What elevates French Polynesia beyond the postcard imagery is the variety. Bora Bora delivers the iconic overwater luxury. Moorea offers dramatic volcanic scenery and excellent snorkelling. Huahine and Taha'a are quieter, more authentically Polynesian, with vanilla plantations and pearl farms. And for guests who want to extend the voyage, the Tuamotu atolls provide some of the world's finest diving.

Drivas Yachts arranges charters on both motor yachts and sailing catamarans operating in French Polynesia. The calm lagoon waters and reliable trade winds make this an excellent destination for both types. We can design itineraries from intimate four-day Moorea circuits to ambitious two-week voyages spanning the Society and Tuamotu archipelagos.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Chartering in French Polynesia

How much does a yacht charter in French Polynesia cost?+

Crewed yacht charters in French Polynesia typically range from EUR 25,000 to EUR 200,000+ per week depending on yacht size and type. Catamarans offer excellent value for the lagoon environment. Contact Drivas Yachts for a personalised quote.

What is the best time to charter in French Polynesia?+

May to October (dry season) offers the best weather with lower humidity and reliable trade winds. July and August bring humpback whale migration. The wet season (November to April) is warmer but with more rain.

Do I need to fly to Tahiti?+

Yes. International flights arrive at Faa'a Airport in Papeete, Tahiti. From there, short inter-island flights or the yacht itself connect to the charter starting point in Raiatea, Bora Bora, or Moorea.

Is French Polynesia good for diving?+

Exceptional. The Society Islands offer reef diving and lagoon snorkelling. The Tuamotu atolls — especially Rangiroa and Fakarava — rank among the world's top dive sites for shark encounters and drift dives.

What type of yacht is best for French Polynesia?+

Sailing catamarans and motor yachts both work beautifully. Catamarans are popular for their shallow draft (ideal for lagoon navigation) and stability. Motor yachts offer more speed and space for island-hopping.
