The House
From the ADY archive, 1975
A Founding Story
In 1972, Aris Drivas launched a charter company from Piraeus at a moment when the idea of a private yacht industry barely existed. He was among the first to understand what the coming decades would mean for those who got here early and stayed.
His first vessel, Les Enfants de Pirée, became a reference point. By 1975, Stern Magazine was publishing articles on the emerging Mediterranean charter world and naming ADY among those defining it. It was an early signal of what the house would become.
Through the 1970s and 1980s, ADY built its reputation without intermediaries — reaching clients through word of mouth and the careful cultivation of trust. A simple postcard, circa 1982, was enough to bring guests back for the season. The relationship was the product.
From that Mediterranean foundation, ADY expanded its reach: Caribbean, Indian Ocean, the Pacific. The service offer followed naturally — management, sales, crew, finance — because clients asked for it, and because the house had earned the authority to deliver it anywhere in the world.
About the Founder
Aris Drivas
Founder of Aris Drivas Yachting. Chartering Greece since 1972 and an early face of Greek yachting at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show. Inducted into the CYBA Charter Yachting Hall of Fame in 2014.
Dozens of today’s leading yacht brokers began their careers under his guidance — a legacy measured not only in vessels managed, but in the professionals he shaped.
From the Archive
“Les Enfants de Pirée”
ADY’s founding vessel, featured in Stern Magazine’s 1975 survey of yacht charters across the Cyclades. One of the earliest press records of the Aegean charter era.
Circa 1982
In an era before digital communication, ADY reached its clients through postcards — handwritten and personally addressed. Each one a small act of care that distinguished the house from competitors operating at arm’s length.

On Independence
The last great independent superyacht house.
While the names that defined this industry were absorbed — by MarineMax, by private equity, by consolidation strategies drawn up in boardrooms far from the sea — ADY remained what it has always been. A house. A family. An obligation to its clients that no acquisition can replicate.
Burgess was founded in 1975. Edmiston in 1996. ADY was here in 1972, and the same family runs it today.
