Owner Services —

Technical Services

New builds and refits. On-the-ground oversight that keeps projects on scope, on budget, and delivered to specification.

  • Refit and drydock management with on-site supervision
  • New build advisory from specification to sea trials
  • Yard selection and tendering across Mediterranean shipyards
  • Class survey coordination and certification renewal
  • Supplier and contractor oversight: quality, timeline, cost

New builds and refits are the highest-value projects in yacht ownership — and the ones most exposed to cost overruns when supervision is absent. Refit cost overruns are almost always the result of inadequate specification at the outset, or absent supervision during execution. The yard is running multiple projects; without someone representing your interests on-site, yours is the project that absorbs the delays.

ADY provides on-the-ground technical oversight that keeps projects on scope, on budget, and delivered to the specification the owner agreed. We have done this from contract through commissioning — including most recently for M/Y Aurora.

Refit & Drydock Management

A refit without on-site supervision is a refit with surprises. ADY manages the full process from scope definition to delivery — the owner is represented at the yard throughout.

  • Scope definition and budget planning before yard entry — no surprises later
  • Yard selection and competitive tendering across Aegean yards (Elefsis, Syros, Perama) and wider Mediterranean
  • On-site supervision throughout the refit — ADY at the yard, not managing by email
  • Contractor and supplier management — quality control, timeline adherence, cost oversight
  • Change order management and cost control — no material decision taken without clear impact assessment
  • Post-refit delivery inspection and sea trials

Refit tasks, milestones, and yard progress are tracked and reported in real time through our management platform.

New Build Advisory

A new build is the highest-value transaction in the industry. The yard's interests and yours are not always aligned at every stage. Without an experienced representative, specification gaps become variation orders and variation orders become cost overruns.

  • Yard selection and evaluation — honest assessment of competence, capacity, and track record
  • Technical specification development — translating owner requirements into build documentation, resolving conflicts between design intent and technical requirements before they become variation orders
  • Build supervision from keel-laying to sea trials — ADY at the yard, not managing remotely
  • Coordination with classification societies, flag state surveyors, and insurers
  • Sea trial attendance — speed, manoeuvrability, noise and vibration verified against specification
  • Delivery inspection and commissioning support — systems handover, crew familiarisation, first season readiness

Class Survey Coordination

Classification society surveys and certification renewals require planning — not last-minute scrambles. ADY coordinates the process so surveys are completed on schedule and the vessel's class status is never at risk.

  • Class renewal planning and certification roadmap development
  • Pre-purchase survey coordination and technical due diligence
  • Condition assessments and technical status reporting
  • Long-term maintenance strategy for managed and client vessels

The Outcome

The project is specified tightly, supervised in person, and delivered to scope. No surprise invoices. No deferred items discovered at launch. The vessel is built or refitted to your specification, on a programme you can track, and inspected before you accept it.
