Paxos (Paxi) is a small island seven miles south of Corfu, and it is often called the most beautiful island in the Ionian. Just 10 km long and covered in ancient olive groves, Paxos has three harbour villages — Gaios, Lakka, and Longos — each with its own character, all impossibly picturesque.
The west coast is the dramatic side: sheer white cliffs riddled with sea caves that glow blue when the light enters at the right angle. The most famous, Ipapanti cave, is large enough to enter by tender. The east coast is gentler, with pebble beaches and calm turquoise water.
Tiny Antipaxos lies just south, virtually uninhabited and home to two of the finest beaches in Greece — Voutoumi and Vrika — where the water is a shade of blue that seems digitally enhanced but is entirely natural. A Paxos charter typically combines with Corfu to the north and the mainland coast to the east.
