Aquila Power Catamarans was established in 2012 as a partnership between Lex Raas, Bill McGill of American dealer group MarineMax, and the Xiong family's Sino Eagle Group, a composite-manufacturing business based in Hangzhou, China. The arrangement began with Sino Eagle building the Aquila 38 for MarineMax's charter operation before the partners developed the Aquila 48, the first purpose-designed Aquila power catamaran, with naval architecture from J&J Design Group. Hulls are built at Sino Eagle's dedicated Hangzhou facility, a roughly 27-acre site with in-house composite manufacturing and riverside launch access, while MarineMax handles sales and distribution internationally. Aquila builds power catamarans in fibreglass across Offshore, Sport and Yacht series, currently spanning around 8.5 to 21 metres, from the sport-fishing Aquila 28 Molokai up to the range-topping model. Its flagship, the Aquila 70 Luxury, debuted at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in 2021 as the largest yacht the brand had built, fitted with twin 1,000hp diesel inboards and carbon-fibre structural reinforcement.
