Nautor's Swan was founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkylä in Pietarsaari, on Finland's west coast, where the yard still builds today. Its early ranges were drawn by Sparkman & Stephens, and Leonardo Ferragamo led the company from 1998. In August 2024 the Italian group Sanlorenzo acquired 60% of Nautor's Swan, with the remaining 40% due to transfer by 2028; Ferragamo stays on as chairman. The yard builds performance sailing yachts in composite construction, from production models in the low teens of metres to full custom projects beyond 30 metres, across the ClubSwan racing line and the cruising Swan range. Its flagship design moment came in 1973, when the Swan 65 launched as Nautor's largest yacht and, at the time, the largest glass-reinforced-plastic yacht in production. A Swan 65 named Sayula II, skippered by Ramón Carlin, won the inaugural Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973-74, with three sister ships finishing second, fourth and fifth.
