Athens Riviera

Cape Sounion, Vouliagmeni, and the cosmopolitan coast where every charter begins.

The Athens Riviera is a 30-kilometre ribbon of coast running south from the city centre to Cape Sounion, where the Temple of Poseidon stands on a headland 60 metres above the sea. For most charterers, this is where Greece begins — the transfer from Athens International takes 30 to 50 minutes, and the principal marinas at Alimos, Flisvos, and Zea (Piraeus) sit at the Riviera's northern end. But this stretch of coast deserves more than a glance through the taxi window. It has its own character, its own rhythm, and — for those with a few hours or a full day before heading south — its own rewards.

Cape Sounion at dusk, with Poseidon's columns catching the last light, is the defining image of this coastline and the traditional departure point for any Aegean charter.

Season

The Athens Riviera is usable year-round, though charter activity concentrates between April and October. Winter months bring cooler weather (10–15°C) and occasional southerly gales, but the coast remains sheltered enough for coastal dining and day outings. Spring (April–May) is the most pleasant time to combine a city visit with embarkation — warm, uncrowded, with long light.
