About the yard

Hatteras is an American builder founded in 1959 in High Point, North Carolina, when Willis Slane and an investor group commissioned naval architect Jack Hargrave to design the yard's first fibreglass sportfishing boat. Production later moved to New Bern, North Carolina, where the yard operates today under White River Marine Group, part of Bass Pro Shops, which acquired the brand in 2021. The yard builds fibreglass sportfishing convertibles and motor yachts in a current line of roughly 15 to 23 metres. Its GT Series carries the lineage forward with the GT70 as flagship, tracing back to the 12.5-metre Knit Wits of 1960, one of the first fibreglass boats over 12 metres.

The 30.5-metre Hatteras 100 RPH, launched in 2013, was the yard's first flagship-scale superyacht and, at the time, the largest production motor yacht built in fibreglass to carry a ten-year structural hull warranty. Three units were delivered within two years, a pace that showed the composite-hull methods proven on Hatteras's sportfishing convertibles could scale to raised-pilothouse motor yachts without compromise.
