About the yard

Horizon is a Taiwanese motor-yacht builder founded in 1987 in Kaohsiung by naval architect John Lu with Gong Shan Chiai and Cheng Shun Hui. Still led by Lu, the Horizon Group now comprises four affiliated yards — Horizon Yacht, Atech Composites, Vision Yachts and Premier Yacht — and accounts for roughly a third of Taiwan's yacht exports. The yard builds composite motor yachts from about 16 to 46 metres, across series including the RP, E and FD ranges, with semi-custom and full-custom options on the larger models. Its FD110 tri-deck, delivered from 2022 and measuring a reported 34 metres, has been built as a five-hull series to date.

Horizon's move upmarket began in 1995, when the yard delivered its first megayacht at 80 feet, redirecting a builder previously known for smaller trawlers and pilothouse cruisers. That programme made Horizon the first, and to date only, Far East member of the Superyacht Builders Association, whose membership requires at least three deliveries over 40 metres within a decade.
