A one-way passage from Athens to Corfu covering the full length of the Ionian coast in seven days. This 395-nm route transits the Gulf of Corinth, threads through the central Ionian islands (Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Lefkada), and finishes at the Venetian elegance of Corfu via the small island of Paxos. It is an efficient way to reposition between two charter hubs while visiting some of the most scenic coastline in Greece.
Your VoyageAthens to Galaxidi
Seventy-seven nautical miles through the Saronic Gulf and into the Gulf of Corinth. Galaxidi is a preserved maritime town with two natural harbours and stone captain's houses. It is the closest port to Delphi (15 km by road) — an evening or early-morning visit to the Sanctuary of Apollo is possible from here. The waterfront tavernas serve some of the best seafood on the northern Peloponnese coast.
Galaxidi to Nafpaktos
Thirty-nine nautical miles west along the Gulf of Corinth to Nafpaktos (Lepanto). The well-preserved Venetian castle rises in tiers above a small, circular harbour that is genuinely picturesque. Nafpaktos is historically significant as the base for the Battle of Lepanto (1571), the last major engagement fought between oared galleys in the Mediterranean. The town has a relaxed pace and good waterfront dining.
Nafpaktos to Zakynthos
Sixty-four nautical miles, exiting the Gulf of Corinth through the Rio-Antirrio strait (under the modern bridge) and heading south to Zakynthos. The island's most famous landmark is Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach — a cove of white sand backed by vertical cliffs. As of March 2026, beach access is indefinitely prohibited due to rockfall risk; boats may approach approximately 40 metres from shore for photography only (no landing or swimming). The cliff-top viewpoints remain open. The marine park at Laganas Bay protects nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
Zakynthos to Kefalonia (Argostoli)
Thirty-five nautical miles north to Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. The island's highlights include Myrtos Beach (one of the most photographed in Greece), the underground Melissani Cave (where a collapsed roof lets sunlight illuminate a subterranean lake), and the Venetian castle at Assos.
Kefalonia to Lefkada
Sixty-five nautical miles north to Lefkada. The west coast features dramatic white-cliff beaches (Porto Katsiki, Egremni); the sheltered east coast provides better anchorages. Nidri is a popular base with views across to Meganisi and the former Onassis island of Skorpios.
Lefkada to Paxos
Eighty-four nautical miles north to the tiny island of Paxos (Paxi), one of the most charming in the Ionian. The main harbour of Gaios is sheltered by the islet of Agios Nikolaos. The west coast has imposing sea caves and cliffs. A tender trip to neighbouring Anti-Paxos reveals some of the most vivid turquoise water in all of Greece — Voutoumi and Vrika beaches are extraordinary. Paxos has excellent olive oil, a handful of fine restaurants, and a quiet, upscale character.
Paxos to Corfu
Thirty-one nautical miles to Corfu, the most cosmopolitan of the Ionian islands. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — Venetian fortresses, French-style arcades (the Liston), British-era buildings, and narrow kantoúnia (alleyways) create a unique architectural blend. The Corfu Marina and the Old Port both offer berths. Corfu has excellent international flight connections for disembarkation.
Season
May through October. Ionian winds are generally lighter and more predictable than the Aegean Meltemi, with afternoon thermals typical in summer.
One-way logistics
This is a one-way route. Corfu has an international airport with extensive summer connections across Europe. Athens embarkation is typically at Flisvos Marina or Zea Marina.
Provisioning
Full provisioning in Athens. Argostoli (Kefalonia) and Corfu have comprehensive resupply. Smaller ports have limited provisions.
