Amels was founded in 1918 by the Amels family in Makkum, the Netherlands, and has been part of the Damen group since 1991, building at Vlissingen. It entered luxury yachts in 1982.
The yard builds full-custom and semi-custom motor superyachts in steel and aluminium from around 40 metres, including its pre-engineered Limited Editions line designed by Tim Heywood.
The Limited Editions sit on pre-engineered platforms from roughly 55 to 83 metres, where the machinery and technical spaces are proven and standardised while the interior is fully custom and the decks semi-custom. The payoff for an owner is delivery in three years or less — faster than a full-custom build — and more than 30 have now been launched.
