About the yard

Lürssen was founded in 1875 by Friedrich Lürssen near Bremen, Germany, where the family-owned yard still builds. It is credited with building one of the earliest motorboats, in collaboration with Gottlieb Daimler.

The yard builds large fully custom motor superyachts in steel at the top of the size range, including some of the largest yachts afloat such as the 180-metre Azzam.

Its modern reputation rests at the top of the size range: the 180-metre Azzam, delivered in 2013, was the world's longest private yacht on delivery, built in about three years and reported to exceed 30 knots. The yard works almost entirely to individual commission, with no series models.
