Lürssen was founded in 1875 by Friedrich Lürssen near Bremen, Germany, where the family-owned yard still builds. It built what is recorded as the first motorboat, for Gottlieb Daimler.
The yard builds large fully custom motor superyachts in steel at the top of the size range, including some of the largest yachts afloat such as the 180-metre Azzam.
