Perini Navi was founded in 1983 by Fabio Perini in Viareggio, Italy. The yard developed push-button sail handling and furling systems that let large sailing yachts be run with a smaller crew.
It builds sailing superyachts from roughly 25 to 90 metres; its work includes the 88-metre Maltese Falcon. Since 2021 the yard has been owned by The Italian Sea Group.
The 88-metre Maltese Falcon carries the rig the yard is known for: the DynaRig, three rotating carbon masts setting fifteen square sails over roughly 2,400 square metres, deployed at the push of a button, and the yard says all sail can be set in minutes. At her 2006 delivery she was among the largest privately owned sailing yachts afloat.
